Lakers Acquire Patrick Beverley in Trade with Jazz
Deal Finalized, Adds Veteran Guard to Roster
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 25, 2023) - The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired guard Patrick Beverley from the Utah Jazz in a trade, the team announced Thursday.
Beverley, a 10-year NBA veteran, is known for his defensive intensity and perimeter shooting. He averaged 9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game for the Jazz last season.
"We are excited to add Patrick to our team," said Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka. "He brings a wealth of experience and toughness to the court, and we believe he will be a valuable asset in our pursuit of a championship."
In exchange for Beverley, the Lakers sent guard Talen Horton-Tucker and center Stanley Johnson to the Jazz.
Beverley is expected to join the Lakers for training camp, which begins on Sept. 26.
